Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and are trained to direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries, dealing with financial claims, dealing with patient records and carrying out searches and practice audits.
Please remember our receptionists have a very difficult task to perform, and they must follow the doctors’ instructions. Understand that they may need to ask a few questions when dealing with certain requests, particularly when assessing urgency, and these questions are approved by the GPs. Please tell the receptionist if you wish to speak confidentially away from the public area as this can easily be arranged.
We appreciate patients with medical needs are sometimes distressed and hope our staff’s professional manner and courteous approach creates a calming atmosphere.
