In an EMERGENCY call 999.
Emergencies are situations that cannot be managed at home and may be life threatening
Less than urgent
If you need medical advice or to see a doctor call 111. There will be someone to provide you with advice and to direct you to a clinician if it is necessary.
Improving Access to Appointments
GP and nurse appointments are available during the evenings and at weekends for people across the area via GP Access Hubs.
This means that urgent appointments are available up to 8pm during the week, and during clinics on a Saturday and Sunday.
This aims to improve access to GP appointments and help local people to get the help and support they need.
The service is run by Innovations in Primary Care (IPC), a not-for-profit company owned by local GP practices.
The appointments will be available at local GP Access Hubs run from GP surgeries, and they will be both routine and urgent appointments with a doctor, nurse or healthcare professional.
The teams will see new illnesses when you urgently need to see a health professional, and offer planned appointments such as family planning and smear tests that can be hard to arrange whilst at work or when you are caring for family or a loved one.
The service offers GP (or nurse/paramedic practitioner) appointments to patients who meet the following criteria:
- A new problem of less than four weeks duration;
- You haven't seen a healthcare professional for this problem before;
- The problem isn’t related to pregnancy or mental health.
There are also a range of nurse appointments for:
- Dressings;
- Smears;
- Family Planning;
- Chronic Condition reviews (such as asthma, diabetes, COPD).
You book into the GP Access Hubs by ringing Reception on 01903 777000. You may also be offered an appointment at one of the hubs at the weekend if you call NHS 111 for urgent health advice and support.
The hubs will be at neighbouring GP practices to Westcourt. The teams at the hubs will have access to your medical record with your consent, and any care they provide will be added to your medical record so we can continue any ongoing care.
If you need to cancel or change your GP Access Hub appointment, please contact Reception and they will be able to help you cancel or change this. You will not be able to cancel or change the appointment by calling the host practice that the service is operating out of.
If You Have a Complaint After Visiting the GP Access Hub
If you feel you would like to raise a concern after visiting the GP Access Hub, you can do so by contacting the service provider, IPC.
Call 111 when it's a concern, but less urgent than 999.
